InsideOut 2004 - UPDATE #5

Goldfish Memory
Directed by Liz Gill
IRELAND/85 MINUTES

Sort of an Irish riff on Love Actually, Goldfish Memory follows several couples as they fall in and out of relationships and intersect each others lives. Running just under an hour and a half, the film is fast-paced and surprisingly enjoyable; there's not a single unlikeable character in the bunch. Writer/director Liz Gill effectively establishes multiple storylines without confusing the audience, and imbues the movie with a light, easy-going touch. The affable nature of the performers makes it easy enough to overlook the clichés (ie a character races to stop the woman he loves from getting on a plane), though one does expect such moments in a film of this sort.
